BEFORE THE BELL
🟢Futures tied to Canada's main stock index was subdued as investors assessed the fallout from the U.S. federal government shutdown, which threatens to delay key economic data and muddy the Fed's policy-easing plans. U.S. stock index futures also slid.
🟢Meanwhile, gold struck a record high supported by safe-haven demand and the U.S. dollar eased.
🟢European shares advanced, with healthcare stocks leading the way following a U.S.-Pfizer deal that reduced uncertainty in the sector.
🟢 In Asia, Japan's Nikkei ended at a three-week low in a broad sell-off as investors booked profits from the latest rally.
🟢 Oil prices were little changed as investors weighed OPEC+ plans for a larger output hike next month while data from the U.S. and Asia showed signs of demand waning.
🟢The investor focus later in the day will also be on S&P Global Manufacturing PMI data for September.
