SEC and CFTC Hold First Joint Crypto Roundtable in 14 Years
-

The SEC and CFTC met for their first joint roundtable in about 14 years to discuss regulatory harmonization, particularly for the cryptocurrency industry.
Acting CFTC Chair Caroline Pham emphasized the agency’s ongoing enforcement work, stating there’s no reason for “FUD” about the CFTC’s operations. During her tenure from Jan. 20 to early September, the agency took 18 non-enforcement actions and 13 enforcement actions, some involving digital assets.
SEC Chair Paul Atkins clarified that collaboration between agencies does not mean a merger, which would require Congress and the President. Panels included crypto executives from Kraken and Crypto.com.
