In crypto fundraising, terms like hard cap and soft cap often come up.

Soft cap: Minimum needed to launch a project.

Hard cap: Maximum amount the project aims to raise.

For Bitcoin, the hard cap is about total supply: 21M coins. Unlike ICOs, changing this cap is extremely difficult, as it would require rewriting the blockchain’s core rules—and the community guards this fiercely.
