The Tokenized Real-World Asset Market Has Grown 420% Since January 2025 and Is Now Worth $30 Billion

The tokenized real-world asset market has expanded from approximately $5.8 billion at the start of 2025 to more than $30.2 billion as of this week, a growth of over 420% in roughly 16 months according to analytics platform RWA.xyz. Tokenized US Treasurys drove the largest single category increase, growing from $3.9 billion to more than $15 billion, while tokenized commodities including gold posted significant gains as well. Zeus Research analyst Dominick John attributed the surge to tokenized Treasurys turning blockchain rails into a distribution layer for institutional capital, offering compliant on-chain access to real-world yield that effectively bridges traditional finance and decentralized infrastructure in a format institutions can confidently adopt.The growth reflects a fundamental shift in the nature of capital flowing into the RWA sector. Early inflows were driven by speculation and narrative. The current wave is yield-driven, with institutions allocating capital to tokenized government securities and funds because the economic case is clear rather than because of blockchain enthusiasm.

BlackRock's USD Institutional Digital Liquidity Fund launched in March 2024 and provided a credible template that others followed. Fidelity launched its own tokenized Digital Interest Token in September 2025. CoinGecko's head of research Zhong Yang Chan and analyst Yuqian Lim described 2025 as a watershed year where early experiments became best practices and playbooks, accelerating the pace of tokenization across the broader institutional landscape. ARK Invest projects the broader digital asset market could grow to $28 trillion by 2030, with tokenized RWAs identified as one of the key drivers alongside Bitcoin, DeFi, and stablecoins.
