Ethereum Foundation Says Network Will Be Quantum-Secure Before Threat Emerges
-

The Ethereum Foundation is confident the network will be fully quantum-secure long before quantum computers pose a real threat, according to cryptography researcher Antonio Sanso.“We’re really confident we’re gonna meet the timeline and the deadline,” Sanso told Cointelegraph, adding that post-quantum security has become one of the foundation’s top strategic priorities.
In January, the Ethereum Foundation launched a dedicated Post-Quantum team led by researcher Thomas Coratger. Sanso is now leading biweekly All Core Devs calls focused on post-quantum upgrades, with multi-client development networks already live and a public roadmap expected soon.
Ethereum’s transition will require upgrades across its execution, consensus and data availability layers. Sanso estimates overall progress is roughly 20%, but says planning and research have been underway for years, with execution accelerating over the next few years.
