Why Do SUI and Other Blockchain Tokens Face These Kinds of Problems?
-

Token-related issues during outages are usually not about the token itself, but about the underlying blockchain infrastructure. SUI tokens rely entirely on the Sui network to move, trade, or interact with smart contracts. When the chain is halted, tokens can’t be transferred, staked, or used in DeFi, even though ownership is unchanged and funds are not lost.
More broadly, newer blockchains often face growing pains as they scale. Sui is still relatively young compared to older networks, and real-world usage can expose weaknesses that don’t appear in testing. Similar incidents have happened on other high-performance chains in the past. Over time, repeated upgrades, better validator coordination, and stress-tested software tend to reduce these risks—but occasional disruptions remain a tradeoff in cutting-edge blockchain design.
