Babylon Bug Raises Concerns Over Validator Stability
-

Babylon developers disclosed a software flaw that could allow malicious validators to disrupt parts of the network’s consensus process. The issue affects Babylon’s block signature mechanism, known as the BLS vote extension, which is used to confirm that validators agree on a block.
According to developers, the flaw allows validators to omit a critical block hash field when submitting votes. If abused around epoch boundaries, this could cause validator crashes and temporarily slow block production, raising concerns about reliability during key consensus moments.
