Which is more private — Monero or Zcash?
-

Monero is generally considered more private in practice because all transactions are private by default, creating a large anonymity set. Since everyone uses the same privacy features, it’s harder to distinguish one transaction from another.
Zcash’s cryptography is extremely strong, but its privacy is optional. If most users transact transparently, shielded transactions stand out more, which can reduce practical privacy despite the underlying technology being highly advanced.
