Governance Turmoil Weighs on Zcash’s Ecosystem

The slowdown in development coincides with an escalating governance dispute between the Electric Coin Company (ECC) and Bootstrap, the nonprofit organization supporting Zcash. ECC recently announced plans to separate from Bootstrap and form a new company, accusing the nonprofit of what it called “malicious governance actions.”

Bootstrap responded by saying the dispute stemmed from discussions around external investment and potential privatization structures for Zashi, Zcash’s self-custodial wallet.
