Bitcoin Mining Is Now Majority Green
-

Bitcoin mining has quietly crossed a major sustainability milestone. According to tech investor and ESG researcher Daniel Batten, more than 56% of the Bitcoin network is now powered by sustainable energy, up sharply from just 34% in 2021.
Data compiled by Batten alongside Willy Woo and the Digital Assets Research Institute shows that in just over four years, Bitcoin has become one of the fastest-improving energy consumers in the world. Batten argues this shift isn’t slowing down — and could accelerate as mining continues to integrate directly with renewable infrastructure.
