TON combines Catchain consensus with a Byzantine Fault Tolerant (BFT) model optimized for high-speed message passing. Validators reach probabilistic finality in seconds, while full finality is achieved once blocks are anchored into the masterchain.
Decentralization is preserved through validator rotation, stake-based participation, and slashing mechanisms. Because shardchains report to the masterchain, attacks on individual shards cannot compromise global state, making TON resilient even at high throughput.
