🚀 Solana’s Firedancer team proposes a bold change!
-

The new SIMD-0370 proposal could remove Solana’s fixed compute unit (CU) block limit, allowing validator hardware to determine transaction capacity instead of an arbitrary ceiling.
Builds on Alpenglow, which reduces block finality from 12.8 seconds to ~100–150 ms.
Currently, every validator is capped at 60–100M CUs, regardless of hardware.
Firedancer argues that letting strong machines handle more transactions boosts efficiency and aligns capacity with market demand.
This could be a game-changer for throughput scaling and validator incentives.

Big move for Solana
Removing the fixed CU block limit lets validators use full hardware potential, boosting throughput + efficiency. With FireDancer + Alpenglow, this could be a real game-changer for scaling and validator incentives
