Web2 as the Scaffold
-

Everyone loves to say: “Web3 will replace Web2.”
But that’s a flawed narrative. In reality, Web2 is the scaffold Web3 needs to succeed.
Look at what’s already happening:
PayPal and Visa are rolling out crypto payment rails.
️ AWS has launched Web3 labs for developers.
Google Cloud is experimenting with zero-knowledge proofs. These aren’t experiments on the fringe — they’re signals that the biggest Web2 players are building a bridge into Web3. And that’s what will normalize adoption for the mass market.
Think of it like 4G enabling the rollout of 5G. The old system wasn’t torn down overnight — it was used as a stepping stone.
Web3 builders should do the same. Instead of treating Web2 as the enemy, leverage its existing infrastructure, user base, and trust to bring innovations to scale faster. The future isn’t Web2 vs. Web3. It’s Web2 with Web3.
