Internet Computer (ICP) is a blockchain network designed to run applications, smart contracts, and internet services directly on-chain without relying heavily on centralized cloud infrastructure.

Recently, ICP topped blockchain activity rankings with around 6.5 billion transactions over the past 30 days, more than double Solana’s reported volume during the same period.

One reason ICP processes so many transactions is its subnet architecture. Instead of relying on one single execution layer, the network distributes workloads across more than 49 independent subnets, allowing it to scale horizontally.

Since launching in 2021, ICP has reportedly processed over 287 billion transactions and currently handles nearly 2,900 transactions per second.
