US Prosecutors Seek to Recover $3.44M in Crypto From Alleged Investment Scam
-

Federal prosecutors in the United States have filed a civil forfeiture action to recover roughly $3.44 million in Tether (USDT) tied to an alleged crypto investment scam. According to the United States Attorney’s Office for the District of Massachusetts, the funds were seized earlier in 2025 and investigators are now asking a court to approve the permanent confiscation of the assets.
Authorities say the scheme targeted victims across multiple states, including Massachusetts, Utah, and South Carolina. Prosecutors explained that scammers built trust with victims before convincing them to send cryptocurrency to wallets under their control as part of a fake investment opportunity.
