Hyperliquid Surges as Middle East Tensions Shake Global Markets
-

Decentralized exchange Hyperliquid emerged as an unlikely winner amid escalating military tensions between the US, Israel, and Iran. While traditional financial markets remained closed over the weekend, traders flocked to the blockchain-based platform to hedge geopolitical risks, driving commodities-focused derivatives open interest to an all-time high above $1.1 billion.
The surge was fueled by trading in synthetic perpetual futures tied to oil, gold, silver, and US equities. Thanks to the platform’s HIP-3 upgrade, which enables permissionless perpetual futures markets, Hyperliquid captured significant weekend price discovery activity. Its native token, HYPE, jumped 13% in 24 hours to trade above $30, making it the best-performing asset among the top 20 cryptocurrencies by market cap.
