Founder-Led ETH Sales Add Pressure to February Decline
-

Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin has added another layer of pressure to ETH’s price action this month.
On January 30, Buterin announced plans to withdraw and sell 16,384 ETH through his Kanro entity to fund ecosystem initiatives and open-source development during what he described as a period of “mild austerity” at the Ethereum Foundation.
Blockchain analytics platforms Arkham Intelligence and Lookonchain have tracked roughly 9,000 ETH sold since early February, with selling activity accelerating again after a recent 3,500 ETH withdrawal from Aave.
ETH is down approximately 18.5% this month, with the remaining ~7,350 ETH potentially still set for distribution. Markets often react sensitively to founder-linked supply increases, particularly during fragile technical setups.
