Crypto Executives Join CFTC Innovation Advisory Committee
-

The Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) has added leading crypto executives to its new Innovation Advisory Committee, signaling a closer engagement with the digital asset industry. The 35-member panel includes Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong, Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse, and executives from Gemini, Crypto.com, Uniswap, Solana Labs, and Kraken. CFTC Chair Mike Selig stated that the committee’s role is to “ensure the CFTC’s decisions reflect market realities” and help develop “clear rules of the road” for evolving financial markets.
The committee, which replaces the Technology Advisory Committee, is tasked with advising on commercial, economic, and practical considerations of emerging products and platforms. While the panel heavily features crypto executives, the CFTC plans to incorporate feedback from academia, public interest groups, and other regulatory bodies to ensure a comprehensive approach to market regulation. This move comes as the CFTC signals a more receptive stance toward cryptocurrencies and coordinates closely with the Securities and Exchange Commission.
