Why Stablecoins and Privacy Pushed Tron and NEAR Into the Top Five
-

Tron’s 3.22 billion transactions in 2025 highlighted its growing role as a core settlement layer for stablecoins. TRON DAO reported that more than half of all circulating Tether USDt was issued on Tron, with daily transfer volumes reaching tens of billions of dollars. This steady, utility-driven demand helped Tron maintain high onchain activity throughout the year.
NEAR Protocol ranked fifth with 1.89 billion transactions, supported by a reported 46 million users and a growing focus on privacy-preserving applications. A notable driver was the integration of Electric Coin Company’s Zashi wallet with NEAR’s Intents system, enabling seamless interaction with Zcash without centralized exchanges. This integration pushed shielded ZEC supply to record levels and triggered spikes in transaction volume on NEAR.
