BlackRock: Investors Not Betting on Bitcoin as a Payment Network

BlackRock’s head of digital assets, Robbie Mitchnick, says most major institutional clients are not investing in Bitcoin for its potential as a global payment network. Speaking on the Coin Stories podcast, Mitchnick emphasized that investors are focused almost entirely on Bitcoin’s “digital gold” narrative, while the payments use case is viewed as “speculative” and long-term.
Mitchnick noted that significant advancements — including improvements to the Lightning Network and Bitcoin scaling solutions — would be required before investors take the payments thesis seriously. -
