Mastercard Brings Username-Style Aliases to Self-Custody Wallets

Mastercard is expanding its Crypto Credential program to support self-custody wallets, letting users send and receive crypto via human-readable aliases instead of long wallet addresses.
Polygon will be the first blockchain to support the rollout, with payments firm Mercuryo verifying identities and issuing aliases. The move aims to make crypto transfers simpler and safer for everyday users.
