SBF Launches Appeal Against 25-Year Sentence
-

Sam Bankman-Fried (SBF), the FTX founder, is taking legal action to overturn his fraud conviction and 25-year prison sentence as his appeal begins in Manhattan this week.
SBF’s attorney, Alexandra Shapiro, argues he was treated as guilty before trial, claiming bias, procedural errors, and the court’s refusal to admit crucial evidence tainted the process.
“In the U.S., people accused of crimes are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt… None of that happened here,” Shapiro said in a 2024 brief.
The Second Circuit Court of Appeals will hear oral arguments this week, with a decision expected in the coming months.
