US Treasury Secretary Praises Singapore’s Stablecoin Leadership

At the APEC 2025 summit in Gyeongju, South Korea, US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent commended Singapore’s leadership in stablecoin and digital asset regulation during a meeting with Prime Minister Lawrence Wong.

Bessent highlighted Singapore’s “responsible innovation” model as a global example for balancing adoption with safeguards. The remarks came as the US delegation, led by President Donald Trump, met Asian counterparts to discuss technology and economic cooperation.

The Treasury chief also noted record levels of capital investment flowing into advanced manufacturing and digital infrastructure across APEC economies.
