🚗🇨🇳 China’s Xpeng Adds AR “Shoe-Throwing” Game to Its P7 Electric Car
-
In a bold blend of road rage therapy and AR gaming, Chinese EV maker Xpeng has introduced a new feature in its P7 electric sedan that lets drivers virtually “attack” other cars with slippers, watermelons — or even flying pigs — via an augmented reality interface.
The feature was unveiled in a video shared by Xpeng’s co-founder and CEO He Xiaopeng on Weibo. He explained the idea is to let drivers “blow off steam without risk” — by tapping a single button instead of actually reacting to annoying road situations.
🧠 “Drivers often face frustrating behavior on the road that can lead to accidents. This lets them vent safely.”
The Xpeng P7 — launched in May 2025 — is positioned as a rival to the Tesla Model 3 and Xiaomi SU7. Depending on configuration, it offers:
276 to 473 horsepower 700–820 km of range Starting price: ¥250,000 (~$34,300)
Preorders for the P7 opened on August 7, and over 10,000 orders were placed in the first six minutes.
AR road rage... gamified. Welcome to the future.
