Switzerland’s Gambling Supervisory Authority (GESPA) has filed a complaint against FIFA Collect, alleging the NFT platform operates as an unlicensed gambling provider. The regulator claims competitions offering rewards via airdrops and challenges involve monetary stakes and elements of chance, classifying them as lotteries or sports betting under Swiss law. Currently, only Sporttip and Jouez Sport are licensed for sports gambling nationwide. FIFA and Modex, the platform’s Web3 provider, had not responded to requests for comment.
