Hackers laundered Bittensor proceeds through anime NFT buys, investigator says

A new on‑chain probe by sleuth ZachXBT suggests perpetrators of the $28 million Bittensor hack in mid‑2024 routed a portion of the stolen funds through anime NFT purchases — a small slice of the haul, but one that proved surprisingly hard to trace.
ZachXBT reports roughly <$1 million of the stolen money was spent on anime NFTs and related on‑chain activity. Because NFTs combine token transfers with off‑chain marketplaces and opaque presale mechanics, the trail cooled faster than with classic tumblers. The investigator stopped short of naming definitive suspects and stressed several links remain circumstantial.
