UK Minister Wants Fewer Freelancers in Creative Industries
-

Chris Bryant, UK Minister for Creative Industries and Arts, suggested that over the next 10 years there should be fewer freelance workers and more people with secure employment in creative sectors.
Speaking to the Culture, Media and Sport Committee on 8 July, Bryant cited the BBC makeup industry as an example, noting there are no longer makeup artists employed full-time. He added that heavy reliance on freelancers creates skills gaps and makes ongoing training more challenging.
Bryant emphasized the governmentโs aim: to increase continuity and security in the creative workforce.
