U.S. Pushes Back on China’s AI Lead with Open-Source Models
-

Reflection AI’s rise is being framed as a geopolitical counterweight to China’s DeepSeek and Qwen models. Co-founder Laskin warned: “If we don’t act, the global standard of intelligence will be built elsewhere — not in America.”

White House AI & Crypto Czar David Sacks called the news a win for U.S. open-source AI, while Hugging Face CEO Clem Delangue said the challenge now is to share models and datasets at scale to compete with global rivals.
