Kazakhstan’s Financial Monitoring Agency (AFM) has shut down 130 crypto platforms linked to money laundering this year, seizing $16.7 million in digital assets. Unlike licensed exchanges, these platforms operated like unregulated “crypto exchangers.” Last year, only 36 platforms were taken down, showing a sharp rise in enforcement.

130 illegal platforms? That’s wild. Regulation is clearly catching up fast across Asia — transparency is the new trend.

It’s a strong move to protect investors. Clearing out shady platforms is necessary for the long-term credibility of the crypto sector.
