Ruble-Backed A7A5 Becomes World’s Largest Non-Dollar Stablecoin
-

A7A5, a ruble-backed stablecoin issued in Kyrgyzstan, has surged to become the largest non-US dollar stablecoin globally — reaching nearly $500 million in market capitalization, or 43% of all non-dollar stablecoin value, according to CoinMarketCap and DeFiLlama data.
The project’s operators celebrated the milestone on Telegram, calling A7A5 “a driver of global change.” The token’s rise coincides with its growing visibility at Token2049 in Singapore, where it drew scrutiny over sanctions compliance and its expanding global footprint.
Despite facing U.S. and U.K. sanctions, A7A5 has managed steady growth, suggesting continued demand in markets seeking alternatives to the U.S. dollar.
