18 Months Freelancing: From Corporate Burnout to Work-Life Balance
-

After 18 months as a full-time freelancer, I can confidently say that leaving corporate life was one of the best decisions I’ve made. The past year and a half has been a mix of challenges, lessons, and unexpected wins.
When I left corporate in December 2023, burnout and stress had taken a toll on my physical and mental health. My goal was to create a sustainable career that aligned with my values: work to live, not live to work. Today, I’m happily working with a small roster of clients, replacing my corporate salary while regaining my health and freedom.
Key lessons so far: focus on meaningful client work, reclaim your time, and remember that the corporate “safety net” is often an illusion. Freelancing can be tough at first, but the autonomy and personal growth are unmatched.
