Capcom Cup 12 to Go Pay-Per-View
-

On Sept. 28, 2025, Capcom announced that Capcom Cup 12 will adopt a pay-per-view model, ending the tradition of free live streaming on Twitch. Fans will now have to pay to watch the tournament live.
Leading figures in the fighting game community voiced concern. Commentator Stephen “Sajam” Lyon called the PPV model “hard to justify,” especially given the lack of regional pricing. Reigning champion MenaRD said that while PPV may be common in Japan, “other regions of the world will have trouble being able to watch the game due to the prices.” -
Capcom moving Capcom Cup to PPV feels like a risky move that could shrink the audience.

Without regional pricing, a lot of fans worldwide might end up locked out of watching live.
