Vietnamese authorities recently enforced new biometric verification rules, leading commercial banks to delete more than 86 million accounts that lacked face or fingerprint authentication. Out of an estimated 200 million accounts nationwide, only around 113 million remain active. Critics warn that the policy may disrupt legitimate financial activity, particularly for vulnerable groups and foreign residents.
