Patapon Successor Ratatan Launches on Steam Early Access

The spiritual successor to the beloved Patapon series, Ratatan, has officially entered Steam Early Access as of September 18, 2025, and is now available to all players. A 10% launch discount is available until September 29, 2025.

Developed by Ratata Arts, a studio including some of the original Patapon developers, Ratatan is a rhythm action roguelike that first captured attention with its crowdfunding campaign, which fully funded within an hour on Kickstarter.

The game’s launch followed an indefinite delay in July, after beta testing highlighted player concerns over visuals, tutorial clarity, and gameplay loop satisfaction. After refining the game, developers felt confident to release it in early access. Early reviews on Steam are “Very Positive”, with a peak player count of 4,467 and Ratatan entering the Steam Global Top Sellers top 20.

Ratata Arts will also showcase Ratatan at Tokyo Game Show 2025, offering players exclusive in-game items to test at their booth.
