Cyberpunk 2 May Feature Multiplayer, Says CD Projekt Red Job Listing
-

CD Projekt Red is hinting at online multiplayer elements for Cyberpunk 2, the highly anticipated sequel to Cyberpunk 2077. A recent job posting for a Lead Network Engineer reveals responsibilities like developing and optimizing multiplayer systems, matchmaking, and addressing server performance challenges such as latency and bandwidth.
Multiplayer was originally planned for Cyberpunk 2077 but was scrapped due to the gameβs troubled launch. In January 2024, CD Projekt co-CEO Adam Badowski mentioned that multiplayer is being considered for Cyberpunk 2, though details remain scarce.
For context, Cyberpunk 2077 has sold over 30 million copies worldwide, making it one of the best-selling video games ever. Its major DLC, Phantom Liberty, added another 10 million copies globally.
Fans can now speculate: will Cyberpunk 2 finally bring Night City to life with a fully-fledged multiplayer experience?
