Binance co-founder Changpeng “CZ” Zhao has raised the alarm over a troubling new tactic from North Korean hackers: posing as IT job seekers to infiltrate crypto companies.

According to CZ, attackers are applying for roles in development, finance, and security, gaining a “foot in the door” with unsuspecting firms. Once inside, they attempt to spread malware, steal sensitive data, or even bribe employees for access.

Some of the methods Zhao highlighted include:

Sending “Zoom updates” with malicious files during interviews.

Disguising themselves as employers to lure workers into downloading malware.

Sharing “sample code” laced with backdoors during technical tests.

Bribing outsourced vendors for insider access.

    🚨 CZ’s advice:

Train staff to never download unsolicited files.

    Rigorously vet all job candidates.

Keep tight internal controls on sensitive systems.

The warning comes as the crypto industry faces an increasingly sophisticated wave of cyberattacks.

Malicious “Zoom updates” & backdoored sample code 👀 Shows how creative attackers are getting.
