๐ฎ Battlefield 6 Crossplay Confusion
-

EA has confirmed to Dexerto that Battlefield 6 will not support console-only crossplay. Players who enable cross-play will still be matched with PC lobbies, despite earlier claims made to IGN that suggested otherwise.
The contradiction comes from Matthew Nickerson, senior console combat designer, who previously told IGN that turning off crossplay would still allow โconsole-onlyโ matchmaking โ excluding PC players entirely. EA now clarifies that isnโt the case.
๏ธ The issue? Many console players are concerned about PC cheating exploits, which can negatively affect gameplay balance. However, turning cross-play off completely limits matchmaking to only players on the same console, shrinking pool sizes dramatically.EA did note that the system will prioritize filling console vs. console matches when possible, but PC players can still enter mixed lobbies under cross-play.
Battlefield 6, developed by Battlefield Studios and published by EA, launches October 10, 2025 on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
No console-only crossplay means PS + Xbox will always face PC if enabled
PC lobbies have always been the biggest issue for console players.
