The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) announced the largest crypto seizure in Canadian history, confiscating CA$56M (~$40.6M) from TradeOgre, a centralized exchange known for its no-KYC policy.

Authorities claim TradeOgre:

Operated without registering with FINTRAC.

Was heavily used for criminal money laundering.

Concealed the sources of funds flowing through the platform.

This marks the first time Canadian law enforcement has fully dismantled a crypto exchange. The RCMP investigation began in mid-2024 after a Europol tip, with the platform going offline this past July.

While the RCMP says most funds were illicit, many users argue innocent balances were seized in the process.
