007: First Light Finally Reveals Gameplay — And It Looks More Like Hitman Meets Bond Than Classic Action Shooters
-

IO Interactive has officially released the first 13 minutes of 007: First Light, giving fans their first real look at gameplay, stealth mechanics, and the story behind its younger version of James Bond. The game opens with Bond surviving a helicopter crash during an MI6 operation before sneaking through a hostile island base to regroup with his squad. The footage immediately highlights IO Interactive’s stealth DNA, with gameplay that feels heavily inspired by the studio’s Hitman series:
• Environmental infiltration
• Tactical stealth movement
• Enemy awareness systems
• Multiple mission approachesUnlike older Bond games that leaned heavily into linear shooting mechanics, First Light appears focused on espionage, improvisation, and player choice.
The game also introduces Bond’s new “Instinct” mechanic, designed to help players manipulate situations and react dynamically under pressure. IO Interactive says the main story will take roughly 20 hours to complete, with additional Tactical Challenges encouraging replayability after launch.
For longtime Bond fans, this may be the franchise’s biggest gameplay evolution in over a decade.
