007 First Light on PS5 Pro Will Use Sony's Updated PSSR Technology to Deliver a Sharper and More Stable Visual Experience

IO Interactive has detailed how 007 First Light will take advantage of PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution on the PS5 Pro, with the enhancement enabled by default when players boot up the game on the console. In a PlayStation blog post, IO Interactive's Senior Global Communication Manager Yann Roskell outlined the specific visual improvements PSSR brings to the experience, including denser foliage, more detailed cinematic moments, reduced flickering, less shimmer during chaotic action sequences, and sharper rendering of hair, fabric, and fine character details. Roskell also noted that from a development perspective, getting PSSR up and running well did not require extensive engineering work, with IO's team achieving strong results quickly once they integrated the technology.The PS5 Pro version sits at the top of a tiered performance structure across PlayStation hardware.

The base PS5 offers a choice between a Performance mode running at 60 frames per second with slightly reduced visual fidelity and a Quality mode that looks better but runs at 30fps. The PS5 Pro combines the smoothness of the Performance mode with the visual improvements PSSR adds on top, making it the optimal way to experience the game on PlayStation hardware. The PSSR support puts 007 First Light in the company of other notable titles that have adopted Sony's enhanced upscaling technology, including Ghost of Yotei, Pragmata, Cyberpunk 2077, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, ARC Raiders, and Kingdom Come Deliverance 2.
