WoW May 5 Patch Nerfs Unholy Death Knight, Guardian Druid and Augmentation Evoker
-

While many World of Warcraft classes are celebrating the May 5 tuning pass, several of the game's most played specializations are on the receiving end of targeted nerfs designed to bring them in line with the rest of the field. Unholy Death Knight, which had already received nerfs during Patch 12.0.5's launch, is being brought down further after Blizzard acknowledged it is performing better than intended following recent bug fixes. Graveyard damage is being reduced by 15%, Whitemane's Epidemic and Trollbane's Icy Fury from the Rider of the Apocalypse talents are both being cut by 25%, and Magus of the Dead Shadow Bolt damage is down 15%. Guardian Druid is receiving a significant restructuring of its damage profile, with Wild Guardian echo effectiveness cut from 300% to 200% and Red Moon, Maul, Raze, and Ravage all receiving 15% damage reductions, though Blizzard is compensating with substantial buffs to Thrash's direct and bleed damage to support more consistent threat generation.
Augmentation Evoker receives a flat 5% nerf to all ability and pet damage, which Blizzard framed as a straightforward performance adjustment after clarifying that bug fixes to Inferno's Blessing and Bombardment calculations were adjusted to ensure only the intended 5% reduction takes effect rather than an accidental double-nerf. Devourer Demon Hunter loses 3% overall damage alongside targeted cuts to Voidfall Meteor and Meteoric Rise. Restoration Druid healing is down 3% in PvE content. Discipline Priest sees Atonement healing decay more rapidly beyond five targets in raid environments, addressing overperformance in large group content while maintaining its effectiveness in smaller party sizes. The full patch also includes PvP-specific adjustments increasing player Stamina through the Gladiator's Distinction trinket bonus to slow the pace of combat that Blizzard acknowledged has been moving too quickly toward fast kills.

“tuning pass” = your main just got humbled

-
every patch: buffs for others, nerfs for you
-
Guardian druid “rework” = relearn your whole rotation.
-
Devs said “less burst” but forgot players love big numbers.
-
Evoker -5% sounds small until it isn’t.
-
Healers catching strays again.
-
pvp slower… but still somehow chaotic
-
“bug fix” hiding a nerf never gets old
-
Meta shifting and nobody ready.

What spec got hit the hardest this time?
