Oobit Launches Visa Cards for AI Agents to Spend USDT Without Human Intervention
-

Crypto wallet startup Oobit has launched Agent Cards, Visa-supported virtual cards that allow AI agents to make online purchases in USDT on behalf of businesses without requiring any human approval or intervention. The cards are funded directly from Tether's treasury, eliminating the need for fiat on-ramps or currency conversions when AI agents need to top up balances and make payments. Practical use cases range from renewing SaaS subscriptions and topping up advertising budgets to spinning up cloud infrastructure autonomously in the middle of the night when a workflow triggers the need. Oobit advisor Alex Obchakevich added that agents will also be able to trade crypto and stocks through the cards, extending their financial autonomy beyond standard merchant purchases.
Agent Cards launched Thursday to a founding group of businesses, with onboarding expanding to a limited number of additional companies through June 30. Each AI agent receives exactly one card to maintain a clean identity and audit trail, and spend limits along with merchant restrictions are enforced at the transaction layer to ensure agents operate only within their authorized scope. Businesses must pass a know-your-business compliance check to set up the cards, and the product is compatible with major AI agent frameworks including OpenAI, Claude, AutoGen, and LangChain. The Tether-backed infrastructure means the entire payment flow from treasury to merchant remains within the stablecoin ecosystem without touching traditional banking rails.
