Visa Enters the AI Payments Race With Intelligent Commerce Platform
-

Visa has launched Intelligent Commerce Connect, a new platform designed to enable AI agents to make payments on behalf of users. The system acts as a universal “on-ramp” for agentic commerce, allowing AI to browse products, select items, and complete transactions autonomously. Through a single integration via Visa’s Acceptance Platform, businesses can support secure payment initiation, tokenization, authentication, and spend controls—all essential for safe AI-driven transactions. This move positions Visa alongside blockchain networks like Ethereum and Solana, which are also building infrastructure for AI-powered payments. Currently in pilot phase, the platform aims for a wider rollout later in 2026. The goal is clear: make AI agents not just assistants, but active participants in commerce—handling purchases seamlessly within defined user limits.
