🕵️ Crypto-Detective Files: Cold Callers Caught – £1.5M Crypto Scam Busted
-
Hey all,
I go by "ChainSniff", been deep in the crypto space for a while now — trading, researching, and yeah… occasionally digging into the darker side of things. I’ve seen enough shady projects to know a scam when I smell one. This week’s case? Straight out of London. Two guys, Raymondip Bedi and Patrick Mavanga, just got sentenced to a combined 12 years in prison for running a fake crypto investment scheme. Their strategy? Good ol’ cold calls. They’d call people up, direct them to slick-looking websites, and promise high returns. Reality? It was smoke and mirrors.
Between 2017 and 2019, they managed to con over 65 people, pulling in £1.54 million. The money funneled through a bunch of companies they set up — Astaria Group, CCX Capital, and even clones of real firms to make it all look legit.
When the law caught up, they both pled guilty. One even tried deleting call logs to cover his tracks. Nice try. But now they’re both doing time, and the FCA is making it clear: this space is being watched.
Moral of the story? If someone’s calling you up out of nowhere offering crypto riches… hang up and hodl tight.
More scam breakdowns coming soon.
