US Lawmakers Push Regulators to Crack Down on Insider Trading in Prediction Markets
-

More than 40 US lawmakers are urging regulators to take action against potential insider trading in prediction markets. They’ve asked the Commodity Futures Trading Commission and the Office of Government Ethics to issue guidance reminding federal employees not to use non-public information for profit.
The push comes after several suspicious trading incidents raised concerns that government insiders could be exploiting sensitive information. Lawmakers argue that existing laws already prohibit this behavior, but clearer enforcement and guidance are now needed.
