Meta Expands AI Content Moderation to Replace Third-Party Reviewers
-

Meta is rolling out more advanced AI systems to handle content enforcement across its platforms, signaling a major shift away from third-party moderation vendors. The company says these systems will take over tasks such as identifying and removing content related to terrorism, scams, fraud, drugs, and child exploitation—areas where speed and scale are critical.
Early testing shows promising results, with the AI detecting twice as much adult solicitation content as human reviewers while reducing error rates by over 60%. Meta also says the systems can flag impersonation attempts and prevent account takeovers by identifying suspicious behavior like unusual logins or profile changes, while stopping roughly 5,000 scam attempts per day.
