Rana el Kaliouby Warns AI Risks Becoming a ‘Boys’ Club’
-

AI leader Rana el Kaliouby has raised concerns that the fast-growing artificial intelligence sector is becoming a “boys’ club,” potentially limiting opportunities for women.
Speaking at SXSW, she warned that a lack of diversity in AI could lead to long-term economic consequences, as fewer women found companies, receive funding, or participate in investment decisions.
El Kaliouby, now a general partner at Blue Tulip Ventures, emphasized that while she doesn’t exclusively invest in women, she actively supports female founders who often face structural barriers in the industry.
