Global Trend Grows as Countries Enable Crypto Payments for Tourists
-

South Korea joins a growing list of countries exploring crypto payments for tourism. In 2025, Bhutan partnered with Binance Pay and DK Bank to enable crypto spending across its tourism sector, while Thailand announced its “TouristDigiPay” initiative to convert crypto into local currency.
Despite these developments, everyday crypto usage remains limited. While some users have spent Bitcoin, adoption is still largely concentrated in online and cross-border transactions rather than daily retail spending—even in countries like El Salvador.
As adoption grows, partnerships like Crypto.com and KG Inicis signal continued momentum toward mainstream crypto payments in travel.
