Crypto ATM Scams Hit $333M in the US as Fraud Complaints Surge
-

Crypto ATM scams are rapidly becoming one of the fastest-growing financial crimes in the United States. According to a new report from cybersecurity firm CertiK, fraud linked to crypto kiosks reached $333 million in losses during 2025, while complaints filed with the FBI jumped 33% compared with the previous year. The United States hosts nearly 78% of the world’s 45,000 crypto ATMs, making it a major target for scammers.
These machines allow users to convert cash into cryptocurrency in just minutes, often with minimal identity verification. While this convenience benefits legitimate users, it also makes crypto ATMs an easy tool for criminals who pressure victims into sending money quickly, often before they realize they’re being scammed.
