FAA Greenlights Major eVTOL Testing Program Across 26 States

The has approved eight pilot programs that will allow electric aircraft developers to begin expanded testing across 26 U.S. states as early as this summer. Companies including , , , and will participate in the three-year initiative aimed at accelerating development of electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft.
The program — launched through an executive order by — allows companies to test aircraft even before full regulatory certification. Officials say the initiative is designed to help the United States lead the next generation of aviation, supporting applications ranging from urban air taxis and regional flights to cargo transport and emergency medical services.
